Consultation Assessment To Understand Your Dog's Behaviors
We explore the unique dynamics between you and your dog during our behavior consultations to understand and address behavioral concerns effectively. By identifying the root causes of your dog’s behavior, we develop personalized strategies for lasting change. Our approach ensures we cover essential aspects, such as structure, communication, and mental and physical fulfillment, to create a balanced and well-behaved dog.
Consultation Assessment for Our In-Home Behavior Consultation
Our in-home behavioral consultations offer you guidance and support for addressing your dog’s behavioral concerns. During the session, we will cover essential topics such as structure, boundaries, effective verbal and non-verbal communication, and proper leash usage. Additionally, we will emphasize the importance of mental and physical fulfillment for your dog and explore how body language, physiology, and psychology play roles in canine communication.
Bring a notepad or video camera to capture all the valuable information shared during the consultation, as the volume of information can be overwhelming. This will help you review and reinforce your learning.
Weather permitting, we will conduct practical exercises both inside and outside your home to address specific behavioral challenges. This hands-on approach helps us tailor the training techniques to your specific situation and provides a more comprehensive understanding of your dog’s needs.

In just over 2 hours he had us and our dog Shadow doing things I wouldn't have thought possible before. He taught us how to build a relationship with our dog, how to be his leader, and thus, how to have a wonderful life together. We look forward to working with him more on pack walks and to fine tune our bond with Shadow. Thank you Tyler and the whole Training That Lasts team! Update 3/11/26. Despite enjoying our behavioral visit with Tyler and our best efforts to put his recommendations into action, our dog continues to suffer from severe separation anxiety from my wife. Due to our inability to ease his anxiety we are not comfortable leaving him alone for extended periods. We have cancelled vacation and even retirement plans. We have had and successfully trained many dogs but this dog is beyond our control. Nothing against Training That Lasts. Their theories are correct in most cases. Just not ours.Posted on emil baroniaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Tyler is an amazing trainer! He's very knowledgeable and passionate about his life's work and pours all of himself into each dog. The results speak for themselves. My pup has grown to be a very well behaved, disciplined, and confident dog. From the structured walks and house breaking, it was definitely worth the time and investment.Posted on Rebel TrailsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wow! Just finished an in home consultation with Tyler, the owner. He is very knowledgeable, personable, but direct. He brought a background on nutrition, lifestyle and human to pet connection, which led to conversations about dog/owner behavior, structure and diet. The consultation is more than just a review of how you manage your dog in your home or elsewhere, it is about how to connect with them and bring guidance for a well behaved companion. Don’t wonder. Just do it. It’s worth it!Posted on Cassie ReevesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a training/consultation with Tyler this week for my almost 8 week old German Shepherd puppies. I also have 2 other older dogs in the home. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. I was in need of guidance in training the puppies and also how to have all the dogs interact in a safe and positive environment. Tyler exceeded my expectations. He taught my puppies to sit, lay, turn around all simple hand gestures and movements. I was beyond impressed. His knowledge about having a positive connection with your dog and teaching them how to have proper dog etiquette was amazing. He teaches POSITIVE reinforcement, which I believe is the only way to effectively and properly train an animal. I am truly impressed by his dedication, commitment, and knowledge not only in dog training but proper nutrition as well. Tyler is truly passionate about what he does and it shows. Thank you Tyler! I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking any assistance or insight on properly training a puppy or a dog. My experience was WONDERFUL!Posted on Ethan HardimanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I will start from the beginning. I got a service dog breeder chosen standard poodle. We did the first meeting and expectations were set. I told him I need her walking in a heel everywhere and able to be around kids and heavily busy areas. Basic neutralization. I already had great groundwork done in the heel and basic obedience. I sent my puppy and gave pretty good reviews during the training. However I did give corrective feed back to him and one of his employees which the employee failed to relay those messages. He also failed to adjust the training. He also allowed my future SD pull of the leash except in stores (not acceptable by me or any other trainer. A heel should always be maintained especially with her future job). She was allowed to pull at people and have improper interactions as well. He also mentioned taking her to kids specialized locations during training like parks, McDonald’s play places and other locations to socialize with children. This NEVER happened not once during her training even though it was heavily requested. He only worked with her in two locations (very lazy mindset there) and never did structured walks or any outdoor work (imperative) to keep her basics maintained. I then left my original review saying that he was extremely friendly just the training education wasn’t there and I wouldn’t be recommending him as a trainer. He then THREATENED me to take the review down saying it was my fault the puppy isn’t listening or doing the heel or social work because I have kids. Well during her training you were supposed to socialize to that, but you didn’t. Taking her to Costco isn’t going to make her great. Different locations, restaurants, and parks are going to fully round her, also hey just making her walk in a heel outside and not let her run amuck until she’s inside. There was not full focus and work and just lazy training avenues. I have requested a refund or rework the program with her as the trainer didn’t complete anything I asked with consistency. DO NOT USE THIS TRAINER, ESPECIALLY FOR A SERVICE DOG. You will have a burned out non responsive dog.Posted on Kimberly CorraoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We just had a one on one training session for our 10 week old puppy, Louis. Tyler is a gifted and passionate trainer of dogs but also of their people. My husband and I feel confident connecting with Louis and using the tools Tyler taught us to bond with our newest family member and lay the foundation for good behavior. We are looking forward to doing group training and structured walks in the future. Thanks Tyler.Posted on Chuck BorosakTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Having a in home consultation was very rewarding to both of us along with our dog. Tyler explained and demonstrated the proper way to expose our dog to the procedure along with explaining an interesting lesson about good nutritional ideas to keep our pup growing and having a long and healthy life. Lexi is adapting and favorably responding to the lessons we learned by having Tyler come over!Posted on Lauren St GermainTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Tyler met with us to train our German shepherds and he was so knowledgeable and supportive throughout the session. He gave us practical solutions that made an impact in the time that we spent with us. He listened to our concerns and supported us throughout the assessment. I would definitely recommend him!Posted on Brian PalmerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Tyler is outstanding! Had a ~2 hour consultation this AM for a 9 week old puppy and learned a TON. He’s super helpful in providing specific tips whether it’s about nutrition, training or products that do/don’t work well. His high value treats were obviously much healthier and strongly preferred by my puppy over what I had been using. Highly recommended!Posted on Dana DixonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I know I posted a review before, but I need to think Tyler again because without his nutrition guidance that we’ve been able to use with our senior dog, he wouldn’t have bounced back from an injury in two weeks for a 14 year-old large breed senior on borrowed time. In fact, I don’t know how much more time we’re gonna borrow, but it’s gonna be a lot more than we thought two months ago. He is running, chasing his brothers, and overall, he is a boss. For a dog of his age and size, having a hip flexor injury should’ve taken weeks. He not only recovered, but he’s better than he ever was at this age.
