Chicagoland Dog-Friendly Events
February 2026, winter fun and Valentine’s puppy love are in the air.
February may be the shortest month, but it’s packed with dog-friendly adventures around Chicagoland. Think cozy indoor outings, winter festivals, and just enough Valentine chaos to keep it interesting. Below is a curated list of in-person, one-time events across Chicago plus the areas our clients come from, including DuPage, Kane, Kendall, and Will County.
Please note: These are not Training That Lasts events. We’re sharing them because we strongly encourage connection and structured socialization for you and your dog. New environments, calm behavior around distractions, and learning to exist around other dogs are all part of reinforcing your training in the real world.
Early February Events
A free Valentine-themed pet photo pop-in with professional photographer Courtney Laper. Bandanas are provided, and you can purchase edited photos later. Easy, casual, and perfect for dogs who can do calm in a public space.
Ribbon-cutting, tours, free pet portraits, prizes, and giveaways. It’s a great way to expose your dog to a vet environment without the pressure of an appointment, which is honestly a win for everybody.
Family winter festival that welcomes leashed dogs outdoors. Hot chocolate, s’mores, hayrides, crafts, sledding, and more. Working sled dogs will be on-site for demos, so keep respectful distance and practice calm.

Leashed dogs are welcome on designated Dog Admission Days to explore trails and enjoy a calm nature adventure. Dogs must stay on marked trails and are not permitted in buildings or certain garden areas.

Charity pickleball tournament supporting rescue dogs. Meet adoptable dogs, enjoy snacks and drinks, and pretend you are athletic for a good cause.
Hockey meets hilarity during intermission with the Wiener Dog Derby. Loud, crowded, and energetic, so bring your dog only if they can handle the hype.
Ongoing February Highlights
Weekly dog-friendly happy hour in Andersonville with treats and drink specials. Humans 21+. Great low-key social scene for dogs who can stay neutral around other pups.
Leashed dogs are allowed on all trails on designated dates. $5 per dog plus human admission. Stick to trails, stay out of buildings, and keep it calm.
Pick one outing and keep it short. Practice calm entries, leash structure, and leaving on a good note. That’s how this actually sticks.
Tips For A Paw-some Outing
Double-Check Details
Verify requirements before you go. RSVPs, vaccination rules, age limits, and weather plans matter.
Watch The Weather
Salt and ice can ruin an outing fast. Consider booties or paw wax, and keep the trip short if needed.
End On A Win
Leave while your dog is still doing well. Short, successful reps build confidence.
Reward Calm
Pay your dog for good choices. Catch calm moments early and reinforce them before chaos starts.
Ready To Enjoy Every Adventure With Your Pup?
These February outings are perfect for building real-world skills, if your dog can stay calm, neutral, and connected. If your dog turns into a tornado around new places or other dogs, you’re not alone. That’s exactly what we work on.
We help dogs build calm confidence so you can actually take them places and enjoy it.
