Join us for enriching dog training sessions in Oswego, led by Tyler, the head trainer at Training That Lasts, and hosted by Paws on Main. Our classes offer a structured, community-driven approach to dog training, focusing on essential obedience commands, socialization, and manners. Whether you’re teaching your dog to sit, stay, walk politely on a leash, or greet others with confidence, we aim to create well-rounded dogs that can easily interact with both people and other animals.
No matter your dog’s age, breed, or size, our group sessions are ideal for everyone! Priced at just $45 per session, these classes provide an affordable and fun environment where your dog can socialize with other pups, and you can connect with like-minded owners to share experiences and tips.
Held every Sunday, with occasional breaks, each session lasts approximately 1.5 hours. Our sessions are designed to build on each week’s lesson, ensuring consistent progress for both you and your dog.
For each session, please bring a slip lead, collar or harness, and some of your dog’s favorite treats for training. It’s also wise to pack water and a portable bowl, especially if the class is outdoors. We encourage owners to engage actively with their dogs, as hands-on practice is essential for effective learning.
Our classes use positive reinforcement methods, focusing on rewarding desired behaviors to encourage repetition. However, we use a variety of training tools to suit different dogs’ needs. The role of the handler is crucial—your active participation and consistency in practice will greatly influence your dog’s success! Occasionally, we will provide homework assignments to reinforce skills learned during the sessions.
Many of our previous participants have shared incredible success stories, noting remarkable improvements in their dogs’ obedience and behavior. We look forward to seeing you and your dog thrive in our supportive and structured environment!

My dog suffers from very bad anxiety, and Tyler was able to make her feel safe and help me to help her to feel safe. In the past, i've been through several trainers that haven't been able to help me overcome this problems that my dog and I where having. Now myself & Milly feel better about our future together. Thanks to Tyler. Overall, it was a great experience i really recommend Training that last.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Michael Byrne2024-10-12Tyler was amazing with our puppy Ziggy! He is very knowledgeable and educated on things to work on. He also gave us some GREAT information on an amazing diet for Ziggy, which he loves. We will definitely work with him again and highly recommend! Oh and Ziggy loved him also.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Marianne Roszyk2024-09-28Tyler was so amazingly calm with Mia, my reactive Beagle/Jack Russell mix. While giving me the tips and criticisms I needed to hear, he did it in ways that weren't accusatory or negative. He also gave me hope that our relationship will get better and healthier if I follow the new structure he lays out. He's also super patient and cheerful, and Mia seemed to get along with him, too.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Brittany Beltz2024-09-16We had an amazing experience with Tyler! He came to our home to work with our dog, and the difference in behavior has been incredible. From the moment he walked in, it was clear he had a natural connection with our dog. He was patient, professional, and tailored the training to fit our specific needs and concerns. Not only did Tyler provide effective techniques, but he also took the time to explain the "why" behind everything, which helped us understand how to maintain the training long-term. Our dog responded so well, and we’ve already seen huge improvements in behavior. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate, and skilled dog trainer, I highly recommend Tyler. He truly made a difference for our family and our dog!Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Lori Siuta2024-08-29Tyler came to our home for a behavior consultation with our whole family of 5. He was able to command the dog's attention immediately and patiently talked us through and showed us how to train our dog to stop jumping, put together an eating/potty schedule, and teach simple commands (sit, stay, etc.) We appreciate his simple techniques and that he taught us as a family how to work with our dog. As soon as he left we were all anxious to get started. We cannot thank Tyler enough and can't wait to see how we can build upon what we've learned.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Ken O2024-08-27Tyler is awesome! He provided numerous ideas on nutrition and training. Our dog Hershey really liked Tyler. She is already picking up on the commands Tyler taught us. I had him come to the house for a behavioral consultation as I recently adopted a poodlemix. He is knowledgable, patient and understanding of the animals needs. Thank you for educating me and look forward to the group classes.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Judiline F2024-08-20Tyler is amazing. I was super nervous having a puppy for the first time and also did a lot of research on good trainers and Tyler really is in my opinion the dog whisper of Yorkville! He explained everything to help me understand my puppies needs, how to help Simba(my puppy) feel more confident and feel more safe beside me, how to walk without pulling the leash, and also shared some great scheduling advice and nutritional information. I’ve had a lot of guest in the house and Tyler is the first person who Simba sat by the door and whined a bit for when he left as he truly missed him after only meeting him for two hours. The training helped me with my confidence in having a puppy and the next day I saw an amazing change in Simba. He listened more attentively and didn’t pull the leash and he did not once go in our neighbors yard/grass. Thank you so much Tyler you really not only helped Simba but also myself feel more confident. Also the toy you suggested is like a magic wand for Simba he sees it and instantly will sit and wait to play. Tyler is also very dedicated to his work and works from his heart. I could instantly tell he does this to genuinely help people and love dogs and not just as a job. He genuinely shoed so much attention and care for Simba and I would recommend anyone else like me who’s never had a puppy to reach out to Tyler! Tyler was great! He took the time to make sure we all understood as he thoroughly explained everything to us. We appreciate his time and we took so many positive things away from our meeting with him. Highly recommend!Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
