We are growing and looking for dependable, motivated people who believe in clear communication, follow-through, professionalism, and real results that last.

Why Work With Training That Lasts?

Our mission is simple: help dogs and owners create better lives together through trust, structure, leadership, and connection. We are building a team that values consistency, honesty, growth, and a willingness to learn.

  • Work with a growing dog training brand serving Yorkville, Oswego, Bristol, and nearby communities
  • Be part of a team that values communication, trust, and practical results
  • Help create better outcomes for dogs and the people who love them
  • Build skills in training, content, customer experience, and brand growth
  • Contribute to a company focused on long-term impact, not quick fixes

Assistant Dog Trainer

This role is for someone with real dog handling experience who wants to grow into a full-time dog trainer. Loving dogs is great. Knowing how to stay calm, read behavior, follow a plan, and work through messy moments is what matters here.

You’ll support daily care, structured training, board and train dogs, group classes, private sessions, and client communication. You’ll work directly under Tyler, follow Training That Lasts systems and safety procedures, and develop your skills through hands-on experience with dogs in real-world environments.

Growth Opportunity

Can lead to a full-time dog trainer role for the right person.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with private sessions, group training, structured walks, and board and train dogs.
  • Support feeding, walking, bathroom breaks, yard time, supervision, and general care routines.
  • Practice training exercises based on approved Training That Lasts plans and guidelines.
  • Reinforce calm behavior, leash manners, focus, structure, impulse control, and safe handling.
  • Help dogs work through walks, car rides, store visits, public settings, and daily routines.
  • Take clear notes on behavior, progress, challenges, triggers, and important changes.
  • Prepare training areas, equipment, leashes, crates, kennels, and supplies.
  • Assist with client updates through HubSpot, Salesmsg, photos, videos, and written notes.
  • Help transport, walk, bathe, clean up after, and care for dogs when needed.
  • Continue learning dog body language, timing, leash handling, behavior patterns, and client communication.

What You Bring

  • Prior hands-on experience working with dogs in training, kennel, daycare, rescue, boarding, grooming, veterinary, or professional pet care.
  • Calm, confident energy around dogs with different temperaments, drives, and behavior challenges.
  • Real reliability. Dogs need consistency, not excuses.
  • The ability to follow a training plan before trying to freestyle.
  • Comfort working around barking, pulling, jumping, nervous dogs, reactive dogs, and messy dog-life moments.
  • Strong awareness, good judgment, and the ability to notice small behavior changes.
  • Clear communication and the ability to take useful notes.
  • Physical ability to walk, bend, lift, clean, handle leashes, manage dogs safely, and stay active.
  • A serious interest in dog training as a career, not just a casual side job.
  • Willingness to earn certifications, keep learning, and grow into a full-time trainer role.

Where This Can Lead

This position is designed to grow. As your handling skills, timing, judgment, client communication, and training knowledge improve, there may be opportunities to take on more responsibility, assist with advanced cases, lead structured walks, support training programs more independently, and move toward a full-time dog trainer role with Training That Lasts.
