Why Choose Local, Relationship-Focused Training?

Unlike franchise dog trainers or big-box pet store classes, Training That Lasts is a local business founded on a simple philosophy: "Redefining Relationships." Real dog training isn't about dominating your dog or bribing compliance—it's about building genuine communication and trust.

Led by professional trainer Tyler Morrick and based right here in Bristol, IL, we bring that philosophy to every session. You get Tyler's personal cell phone number for support between appointments. Your training happens in your home, your neighborhood, and the real places where you need your dog to behave.

We're not just passing through your community. We're members of the Oswego Area Chamber of Commerce, we sponsor local events like Oswego High School activities, and we partner with local businesses like Fox Republic Brewing and Paws on Main for group training venues.

When you work with Training That Lasts, you're working with a neighbor who genuinely invests in your success.

Why In-Home Dog Training Gets Better Results

🏡

Training Where Problems Happen

Your dog's challenges occur in specific contexts—jumping on guests at YOUR front door, pulling on YOUR neighborhood walks, barking at YOUR windows. We train in those exact environments, so solutions stick. A dog who learns to stay calm when visitors arrive at your actual door maintains that behavior far better than one trained in a facility.

🎯

Community-Specific Practice

Every area has unique characteristics. Oswego's downtown Main Street offers different training opportunities than Yorkville's Fox River Trail or Naperville's Riverwalk. We tailor sessions to your environment—incorporating the exact parks, sidewalks, and public spaces where you'll actually spend time with your dog.

🐕

Real-World Distractions

When your dog learns to focus in real situations—at local pet stores like Ace Hardware Yorkville, on busy trails, or at dog-friendly restaurant patios—that training becomes permanent. We take sessions to actual locations in your community, building reliability where it matters most.

👨‍🏫

Training the Family

In-home training means we can work with your entire family, including kids. Everyone learns the same techniques, uses the same commands, and reinforces the same behaviors. This consistency accelerates results and prevents the confusion that happens when different family members handle the dog differently.

📱

Ongoing Support

You get Tyler's cell phone number. Questions between sessions? Text or call anytime. This direct access means you never get stuck when challenges arise, and small issues get addressed before they become big problems.

🤝

Local Investment

As a Kendall County business, we're genuinely invested in this community. We partner with local venues, sponsor community events, and have a reputation to maintain with neighbors. Your dog's success directly impacts our business—we care because we're here to stay.

★★★★★

"Tyler took the time to listen to our concerns and boarded Bodhi for two weeks. His patience, clear communication, and positive reinforcement methods not only taught Bodhi better behaviors but also equipped us with the tools and knowledge to continue the training effectively at home. Leash walks are now enjoyable, he calms down when asked, and holds his potty. We couldn't be more grateful for Tyler's expertise and genuine care for our pup!"

Service Area Questions Answered

How far do you travel for in-home dog training sessions?

We travel throughout Kendall County, western Will County, and eastern DuPage County for in-home training. This includes Yorkville, Oswego, Naperville, Plainfield, Aurora, Montgomery, Plano, Sandwich, and surrounding communities. Each session is 90 minutes, and we typically schedule packages of 3, 5, or 8 sessions. If you're unsure whether we serve your specific area, call us at (630) 303-3545 and we'll let you know immediately.

Where exactly are your group dog training classes held?

We currently hold group training classes at two fantastic local venues: Paws on Main at 100 Main Street in downtown Oswego, and Fox Republic Brewing in downtown Yorkville. Both locations provide real-world environments with natural distractions—other people, sounds, sights—that help dogs learn to maintain focus in public settings. Sessions are $45 each and run on weekend mornings. Check our group training page for the current schedule.

Do you charge extra for areas outside Kendall County?

For most locations within our service area—including Naperville, Plainfield, Aurora, and other nearby communities—there's no additional travel fee. Our pricing is straightforward and based on the training package you select. For areas significantly outside our normal coverage zone, we'll discuss any travel arrangements during your initial consultation. Our goal is to make professional dog training accessible and affordable for as many families as possible.

Can I bring my dog to your group classes from outside Yorkville or Oswego?

Absolutely! Our group training sessions welcome dogs from throughout the region. Many families drive 15-25 minutes from areas like Naperville, Aurora, Plainfield, or even farther to attend because they value the structured socialization, real-world practice, and professional guidance our group sessions provide. The $45 session fee is the same regardless of where you live.

Do you offer board and train for dogs outside Kendall County?

Yes! Our board and train program accepts dogs from throughout the Chicago suburbs and beyond. Dogs stay at our home in Bristol, IL (in Kendall County) and receive daily professional training in a home environment—not a kennel. The program includes two transitional training sessions: one at drop-off where we teach you what your dog is learning, and another midway through where we work together to ensure you can maintain results at home. This program works for busy families, dogs requiring intensive behavior work, or anyone who wants accelerated results.

What makes Training That Lasts different from franchise dog trainers?

We're a locally-owned business, not a franchise. That means you work directly with Tyler Morrick—the owner and trainer—not a rotating staff of employees with varying skill levels. You get Tyler's personal cell phone number for support between sessions. We're members of the Oswego Area Chamber of Commerce, we sponsor local events, and we have a reputation to maintain in this community. Our training philosophy is "Redefining Relationships"—we focus on building genuine communication and trust between you and your dog, not domination or quick fixes. And because we're local, we train in YOUR actual environment, at YOUR parks and trails, in YOUR neighborhood.

How do I know if my area is covered for training services?

The easiest way is to call or text Tyler directly at (630) 303-3545. We'll let you know immediately if we serve your area. Generally, if you're within 30 minutes of Bristol, IL (near Yorkville), you're well within our service zone. We routinely travel to Yorkville, Oswego, Naperville, Plainfield, Aurora, Montgomery, Plano, Sandwich, and the surrounding areas.

Can you train my dog if I live on acreage or in a rural area?

Absolutely. In fact, rural dogs often face unique training challenges—livestock, wildlife, wide-open spaces that test recall, farm equipment. We have extensive experience working with dogs in rural Kendall County and surrounding areas. Whether your dog needs to ignore the neighbor's horses, come when called despite deer running across your property, or stay calm around farm vehicles, we create training plans specific to your environment. Check out our Kendall County training page for more about rural training.
